Ball Screw Installation Method

Ball screw is consist of screw shaft, nut, steel balls, preloading piece, reverse device and dust-proof device. Its function is to convert rotary motion into linear motion, which is further expansion and development of the ACME screw, the important meaning of this development is to change the bearings from sliding motion into rolling motion. Due to its small frictional resistance, the ball screw is widely used in a variety of industrial equipment and precision instruments.

Ball screw is the most commonly used transmission mechanism for machine tools and precision machinery. Its main function is to convert the rotary motion into linear motion or to convert torque into axial recurrent force, with high precision, reversible and high efficiency characteristics.

First, Support unit installation:
1, Screw shaft inserted into a single row bearing, fixed with a thrust ring.
2, After fixed by the thrust ring, the bearing into the support end.
3, Installation accuracy reference value:

Eccentric

Inclined

With a gap:

 20-30μm

1/2000max

Preload nut:

15-25μm

1/3000max

High precision:

﹤10μm

1/5000max

Eccentric: refers to the offset between the fixed side and the center of the support side.
Inclined: refers to the installation error caused by the parallel error (upper, lower, left and right) between the screw shaft and the guide part (LM guide, etc.) or the vertical error of the screw nut installation part other than the eccentric.
Installation accuracy reference value: as shown in the table, the data is for reference only, please reduce the installation error as much as possible.

Second, The ball screw installation on the table and base:
1, Adjust to the installation accuracy reference value.
2, On the basis of the fixed side support unit, adjust the outer diameter of the nut and the inner diameter of the table nut support to maintain a certain clearance.
3, On the basis of the table, for the square support unit, use the thin gasket to adjust the center height, for the flange type support unit, adjust the outer diameter of the nut and the inner diameter of the table nut to maintain a certain clearance.

Third, Installation onto the table and the base:
1, Insert the ball screw nut into the nut bracket and fasten it temporarily. (Place the nut in the middle of the ball screw shaft).
2, Fasten the support unit on the fixed side and the support side to the base temporarily.
3, After moving the table and the fixed side support unit, tighten the support unit to the base.
4, After fixing, move the table toward the fixed side support unit and fixed the table and nut bracket to each other;
5, Fixed the nut and nut bracket;
6, Loosen the bolts fixed in step 4 and fixed the table and nut bracket to each other again. Move the table to the fixed side support unit to adjust its central position, so that the table can move smoothly, for precision table also need to adjust the screw shaft parallel position with the LM guide;
7, After fixing, confirm the running status of the table, move the table to the support base;
8, Move the table to the supported side support unit, and tighten the fixed bolts of the support unit;
9, After fixing, move the table toward the supported side support unit, loosen the table and nut bracket and fixed to each other again;
10, Move the table to the fixed side, reciprocating the table several times so that the nut travels smoothly throughout the whole stroke;
11, If there is abnormal sound and obstruction in the operation, please repeat step 3 to step 10.

Four, Confirm accuracy and tighten the bolts completely:
1, Use the dial gauge to confirm the beating and axial gap of the screw shaft outer diameter part;
2, Fully tighten the bolts of nuts, nut bracket, fixed side support unit, supported side support unit.

Five, Connect the motor:
1, Install the motor bracket on the base;
2, Connect the motor and ball screw with coupling;
3, fully commissioning.
Note: The motor bracket, coupling installation accuracy will affect the positioning accuracy of the table.
